Studying as a parent to one child has limitations. Studying through pregnancy and now as a parent to two children often seems impossible. My work embraces the compromise of being an artist and a mother. Stealing time for myself, I predominantly shoot self-portraits in limited colour palettes to explore feelings of invisibility within the confined space of the frame. Through long exposures, I bring movement to the otherwise static medium of photography. I restrict myself to the photo studio to push myself to find a compromise within its blank slate. Within this space, I move to delete or obscure my presence, to reduce my form to the background.
