Our Operational Committee handle all aspects of the day-to-day running of our space and organisation (paying the bills, emptying the bins, painting the walls, cleaning the toilet, answering emails, applying for funding, budgeting the funding) as well as dipping into the more fun stuff (programming, curating, paying artists, making friends).
As of 2023 we also now have a Board of Trustees who will take care of some of the governance of the charity like financial reporting, and free up more time for the Operational Committee to focus on everything else.
The Operational Committee serves on a voluntary basis for a maximum tenure of two years to ensure that new ideas are always being brought to the table, and that no decision making power can accumulate with any given committee member. We operate on a largely non-hierarchical basis, but have a named Chairperson to keep things ticking over in a vaguely organised manner.
Please note: we take on our Generator roles on top of other jobs, our individual practices, our family commitments and other responsibilities - please keep this in mind when working with us. We are unpaid, and not really professionals - just trying our best to keep the ol’ ship Generator afloat.
