Summer Programme 2011: Imbued Piles

August Krogan-Roley
8 August - 21 August 2011
GENERATORprojects

“The phenomenology of the poetic imagination allows us to explore the being of man considered as the being of a surface, of the surface that separates the region of the same from the region of the other” Gaston Bachelard.
Krogan-Roley has been developing ways in which painting transmits narratives, within his process he has found the use of carpet to be a unique material of
absorption to suggest stories of human existence. His curiosity of the
phenomenology acting as a device to contort and saturate the perception of mundane surroundings. Krogan-Roleys project at GENERATOR will focus on Transgressing the association of flooring material by translating painterly
techniques into a carpet-based medium, which has a long, yet fading historyt of pictorial display.
