GENERATORprojects

Annual GENERATOR They Had Four Years exhibition features new works by recent graduates selected from 3 of Scotland's Art Schools. The graduates that will showcase in this years exhibition are: Eilidh Mckay and Craig Thomson (both graduates from Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee) William Darrell (Edinburgh Collage of Art) and Hans Peter Auken Beck (Glasgow School of Art).

This year, TH4Y focuses on serendipity - the act of making unexpected yet intuitive discoveries. This process is one that many graduates go through during their initial year after graduating.

Darrell, Thomson and Auken Beck all make use of the found object as material for both inspiration and visualisation of their ideas, yet serendipity is not their concextual concerns. However, over the course of the preparation for this show, the three artists have been invited to reflect on the act of discovery, chance and happy accident that drift through their practices with our fourth selected artist, Eilidh McKay aka. The Professor of Serendiptology. McKay has performed a series of samples as an extension to her on-going research. These samples have been used to produce a sculptural gallery guide, the Portable Serendipitous Realisation Station, which aims to aid the viewer's experience of the exhibition in unexpected ways.
