They Had Four Years 2014: PUBLICATION LAUNCH AND FILM SCREENING

THEY HAD FOUR YEARS FILM SCREENING & PUBLICATION LAUNCH

June 4th 2014, 7-9pm
Location: GENERATORprojects

Short video works by Todd Graham, Norman Mclaren and Bryan Boyce will act as subtle, amusing, and occasionally anarchic, dialogical precursers to feature documentary Afghan Star. To coincide with TH4Y, the collection has been curated to expose, expand and converse upon the themes of belief, brotherhood and mythology within the show.

Afghan Star: American Idol is transposed to the backdrop of a nation in turmoil after 30 years of the Taliban. We follow the stories of four contestants appearing in the third season of reality show Afghan Star, delving into conversions around ethnicity, religion, cultural collectivity and what it means to have a democratic vote. A fascinating insight into a culture and a wonderful gateway to some deeper and far-reaching questions.

These films have been selected and curated by artists Ruth Aitken and Becca Clark

We also use this evening to launch our brand new publication: Issue 2 of GENERATOR publications which explores thematics around the show, TH4Y 2014 at GENERATORprojects.

The issue has been edited by Sean Scott and GENERATOR's Kirsty McKeown, with art direction fron Nicola Prosser

Publication costs £3 and has kinldy been supported through a grant by the Hope Scott Trust.
