HERE, NO FUR YE
‘Here, no fur ye’ is an exhibition showcasing the works of emerging working-class artists Lewis Bissett and Alex Maciver. The show will be our opening show of 2021 at GENERATORprojects.
This exhibition was initially meant to happen early last summer and due to COVID has been delayed to this spring. The exhibition was proposed by Charis & I whilst they were serving their tenure on the committee at GENERATORprojects. The show seeks an opportunity to repossess identity and working-classness and oppose the way working-class artists have been shown in galleries, platforming the nitty-gritty and the grayscale. If this show represents the future embraces of reunion with your friends, then the bright familiar everyday paper-mache sculptures of Lewis Bissett grabs you with a playful headlock and a noogie to awaken us from our 2021 art slumber. Whilst Alex Maciver’s large scale colourful abstract paintings reflect identity through an inner monologue, they too embrace you with a playful yet big full arm wraparound hold. Not to disregard the place here, this is precisely where this reunion is meant to be… an industrial estate in the middle of Dundee.
Opening Friday 7th May 10 am - 5 pm, continues Saturday, 8th May – Sunday 23rd May 2021.
